If you are in KK, Fat Kee Fish Noodles is absolutely worth a visit. We tried a few variations, and we highly recommend going with the small yellow noodles—the texture is fantastic and we much preferred it over the hoon mee. For the broths, it really comes down to your personal preference because both are excellent. The tom yam broth is incredibly robust and packs a flavorful punch, while the tomato broth is wonderfully savory but a bit milder. All of the toppings we tried were delicious, but the fried fish and the fried fish bean curd were the definite standouts. The dining experience itself was great too. The restaurant is very clean, the staff is helpful, and the seating is pleasant with plenty of fans running to keep the space cool. One tip for first-timers: the portions here are quite large. When we come back, our game plan is to order the tomato-based mixed fish broth with an extra side of fried bean curd, and specifically ask for less noodles. Highly recommended!

The Tom Yum is spicy, creamy and sufficiently sweet and sour. Very close to a Southern Thai style tomyum soup. My choice of seafood tomyum came with two large prawns and several slices of fried fish fillets. All were fresh and tasty. This is Highly Recommended. I liked the texture of the Kon Lo noodles, which had a nice bite and springiness. The thick dark sauce gave a nice aroma and sweetness. The only thing missing is some lard oil. All the same this is Recommended. The Tomato Soup Noodles were not quite to my liking. It’s sour and mild. I think I might prefer the plain soup with the added milk instead to highlight the fresh seafood. The fish maw had an unpleasant aroma from the oil used I believe. The fish lips were slippery and fresh. Kopi was decent but had a slight bitter aftertaste.
Unforgettable Bowl of Tomyam Noodle in KK This tomyam noodle is easily the most outstanding version I've had in Kota Kinabalu. The broth is spectacular. It's a complex, fiery, and aromatic symphony. The perfect balance of tangy, spicy and savory hits me immediately. The portion is huge. They are incredibly generous with the fish. Large, thick, tender fried fillets that are perfectly poached in the soup. The price is premium; RM25 per bowl. But it's worth every single cents, personally.

Famous for tomyam, this place is popular among locals especially in the morning. I got the mixed fish tomyum. The broth was very creamy, slightly tangy, but satisfying. They were also super generous with ingredients. Good meal!

Came here upon arrival at KK. Was recommended by my friend who couldn’t make this trip. It’s a truly a seafood restaurant with seafood soups, braised and fried dishes. We ordered the tom yam mixed seafood soup, tomato seafood soup, braised seafood, deep fried fish meat dumplings and braised fish lips. All of them were good but the favorite was the seafood which was not overly spicy and the Assam sourness is just right. To all of us the fish lips was what was most interesting. We mistaken it for fresh fish maw - because it’s just so chewable and smooth. Loads of collagen. Good lunch.
