What Google reviewers say
Pros 1) Quick service. Just queue up and order; get one of your dining companions to pick seats in the meantime. 2) Can pay by QR (but cash at some adjacent shops eg for fresh cut fruit). 3) Tasty, and prices are reasonable. 4) Quite a wide variety of dish options including grilled lamb for lunch. 5) Clean. Cons 1) Roadside parking 🅿️ can get tricky. Cross the road with extreme caution. 2) (For takeout) If not explicitly requested staff would pack the lemang in one container; this is not ideal in our case since we got the largest size lemang and the end of the lemang is undercooked. 3) No receipts provided as default. PLEASE make sure to ask. 4) Related to both points above: staff need to be trained not to assume that their current success will ensure the business’ future longevity. (Mind you we were treated nonchalantly by the staff at To’ki 2 a while back too). Lemang, beef rendang 3/5 Chicken rendang, grilled chicken, coffee 4/5 Personally I would not travel one hour there and another hour back - and to navigate the increasingly dangerous Genting Sempah approach and descent - just to get here. Pergi pun sebab Mak teringin.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered set lemang + rendang daging & ayam, set lemang + sambal hitam pahang, ayam bakar. For me the lemang is nothing extraordinary but my favorites are the sambal hitam pahang and ayam bakar with the air asam. I thought the sambal hitam pahang would be sour-ish as it has belimbing buluh fruit it in but it’s not so sour and spicy, it’s dry so I wouldn’t suggest you eat it alone but best pair with rice/lemang. The ayam bakar with the air asam was so good I still remember the smell and taste. If I were to have white rice that day, the air asam would gone in minutes. Also, for riders who are planning to have a ride there, there’s a lot of hooks for you to put your helmets. There’s a lot of fans even when you line up taking your food until inside the toilet so the ventilation is very good. Another thing, there’s a photo of Mat Kilau which I think is very authentic and can be reference for history teachers, it’s different than the one in Google. Wish we tried more food but we don’t want to overwhelm ourselves. Overall I highly recommend this place if you want authentic Malay food.

Because of the popularity, the place was supposed to be packed on holidays n weekends. I chose tuesday. Less people n easier to get a seating for a family of 4. The lemang was ok. Rendang ayam is way better than daging. Unfortunately, the whole chicken leg was cold n hard. Hardly possible for a place frequent by a lot of people. How disappointing...
